Working with Meals on Wheels Families throughout the greater San Antonio region, you are doing much more than meal delivery. You are providing moments of personal connection – a smile, a heartfelt nod, a brief respite from the countless hours alone. We are working hard everyday to meet the needs of the community and continuously adjusting our operations for the safety and health of our clients, volunteers, and staff.
Opportunities to Participate:
Due to our concern for our clients and volunteers during this worrisome COVID-19 pandemic, some of our volunteer opportunities have changed.
Your generous offers of support and interest in delivering meals to our clients during this time of uncertainty is greatly appreciated! Please take a moment to review all of the opportunities on this page. In addition to your time, it would be greatly appreciated if you are able to make a donation of any size to support our efforts. You can donate online and via Venmo or Cash App- our user name for both platforms is @mowsatx. A $5 gift = more than a meal for a neighbor in need.
Meals will be delivered Monday–Thursday. Routes will continue being picked up from 10:00 am - 11 am from our headquarters at 4306 NW Loop 410, 78229. We will not deliver meals on Fridays as we work to minimize interactions for everyone's safety.
We know many volunteers would like to be able to choose their own delivery region. For this reason, we are super excited to introduce our new Volunteer Portal. The Volunteer Portal will give you more control over the routes you would like to deliver, while also providing you with an opportunity to keep your contact information up-to-date so you can continue to receive important updates and information regarding your route and delivery.
Here is how you register and sign up:
Register for the Volunteer Portal using the email you gave us during your application process (If you haven't applied to be a volunteer, fill out an application here, and for more information contact Casey by email or call 210.735.5115 and ask to speak to someone in Community Engagement.)
3. Check your email for the confirmation link
Once you finish you registration, locate the “Help Wanted
” tab at the top left hand corner of your page.
Here are some images to help you with understanding the process.
From the “Help Wanted” page you are able to see and sign up for any open routes. The sign-up page works on a first come, first serve format, so please sure to sign-up for the route as soon as your able.
All routes will continue to pick-up from our Meals on Wheels HQ at 4306 NW Loop 410, between 10:00-11:00am. If you need to cancel a shift, please contact the Community Engagement Office at 210.735.5115
as soon as possible.
Routes will be handed out based on areas in need of volunteers unless you sign up to pick your region in the online scheduler found here.
If you are unable to deliver or are uncomfortable delivering a route that is not yours, we understand and hope you will use the online scheduler
to pick the area in which you'd like to deliver! We also recommend that any volunteer who is 60 or older or has an underlying condition consider staying home.
As you may be aware, we are working to incorporate CDC practices of physical distancing into everything we are doing, including meal pick-up and delivery. For the safety of our clients, all volunteers will have their temperatures checked. Anyone reading 99.5 or higher will be unable to deliver. Masks must also be worn at all times when in close contact with clients and staff.
