All Fall Routes Are Now Open, Y'All!
Fall is just around the corner, and our 4th quarter delivery routes are officially open!
From October 5, 2026, through January 8, 2027, there will be plenty of opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of your homebound neighbors.
Make it a fall tradition! Get together friends, family members, coworkers, or a group and experience the joy of delivering More Than a Meal!
Ready to get started? Simply log in to your Bloomerang Volunteer portal to explore available routes and register for individual shifts on a first-come, first-served basis.
Whether you’re looking to deliver once or make meal delivery a regular part of your routine, you can choose the dates and routes that work best for you.
REMINDER: Each route takes approximately 1 hour and gives you the opportunity to provide a nutritious meal, a friendly face, a wellness check, and a moment of connection to someone who may otherwise spend much of their day alone.
Wanting to make a greater impact? Reach out to the Community Engagement Team at 210-735-5115 X 1500 today to arrange an ongoing assignment that suits you best!
Together, We Can Deliver!
September Reminders
Meals on Wheels will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Extra meals will be delivered to all clients on Friday, September 4.
We also encourage you to honor the legacy of those we remember on September 11 by turning a day of reflection into a day of action. Your time and compassion can make a lasting impact. Register for a route on Friday, September 11, and help us turn remembrance into service!

What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend? Doing anything with my daughter, trying a new coffee shop or taking a stroll through the park.
If your job had a theme song, what would it be? Lean on Me by Bill Withers

Volunteer of the Month: Stacye Castaneda

In her free time, Stacye wanted to:
- Use her extra time productively
- Stay connected with a daily routine
- Do something that would make a difference in the community
From April through August of this year, she spent her time doing all three as a Meal Delivery volunteer!
Stacye's favorite part of volunteering? “Chatting with and getting to know my clients and their family members.”
With the hope of making each client’s day just a little bit better, making personal connections was a highlight for Stacye whenever she delivered, so her days were better too!
Sometimes, making a difference starts with something as simple as showing up, delivering a meal, and taking a few moments to connect with a neighbor.
Thank you to Stacye for taking the time to deliver More Than A Meal to her neighbors!
September 2026 Announcements
Supplemental Shelf-Stable Boxes
Shelf-stable boxes will begin going out to clients this month! These boxes provide additional shelf-stable meals to help ensure our clients with higher nutritional needs have access to supplemental hydration and food.
During delivery, please remember that specially labeled boxes are provided for clients receiving Purée or Ground Meals. If a client is not home, please do not leave the box outside. Instead, pass the box along to the next client on your route and be sure to mention who received the additional meal and shelf-stable box when calling the Volunteer Not-At-Home Line: 📞 210-735-5115 X 1060
Want to help make it happen? Be on the lookout for onsite shelf-stable box packing opportunities in the Bloomerang Volunteer Portal! These hands-on shifts are a great way to help get these important resources to your neighbors by preparing boxes for distribution.
AniMeals
AniMeals Week will take place Monday, September 14, through Friday, September 18. Volunteers can pick up their AniMeals routes between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Campus of Grace (2718 Danbury St.).
Additional delivery days are Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20.
AniMeals routes for September are now posted. Contact T.J. Fuentes at 210-735-5115 X 1513 for any questions or to set up an ongoing AniMeals route assignment.
Back to School Bag Round-Up
Help us keep our insulated delivery bags in rotation! Please return any empty insulated Meals on Wheels bags to your nearest pickup location after your delivery.
Returning bags helps us keep them stocked, organized, and ready for our next round of meal deliveries. Thank you for helping us keep the meals—and the bags—moving!
